July 9, 2025

A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Butte-Meade Sanitary Water District was held at the District Office on July 9, 2024, at 8:00 a.m., led by the Pledge of Allegiance.  The meeting was called to order by the President of the Board, Bob Lewis at 8:00 a.m.

Unless otherwise noted, all Board action was by unanimous decision.

Members Present: Bob Lewis, Gary Velder, Penny Oedekoven, Judy Heisler, Richard Harmon, Mike Wolff, Todd Williamson and Dallas Conner.  

Motion by Penny Oedekoven, second by Gary Velder to adopt the agenda.  Motion carried.

The Minutes of the regular June 11, 2025, meeting was presented and approved on a motion by Judy Heisler, second by Penny Oedekoven.  Motion carried. 

The Treasurer’s Report and bills were approved on a motion by Richard Harmon, second Gary Velder.  Motion carried.

Old Business:

  • Tank bid – Motion by Penny Oedekoven, second by Richard Harmon to award the Tank Bid to the lowest bidder, RCS Construction in the amount of $771,000.00 pending approval by DANR.  The other bids received were from Mainline Contraction, $1,059,040.00 and Woelber Excavating, $1,500,000.00.  Motion carried. 
  • Water rates- Dallas Conner presented information on raising water rates.  Motion by Judy Heisler, seconded by Penny Oedekoven to raise the minimum to $60.00 per month, with the first 3,000 gallons included and to $4.50 per 1,000 gallons for overuse.  Motion carried.
  • Water rates, resale – Motion by Judy Heisler, seconded by Penny Oedekoven to raise the resale rate to $5.25 per 1,000 gallons for all resale overuse.  Motion carried.

 

New Business:

  • Shaykett Tank – Shaykett Tank is in need of repair to fix a leak and the tank lining.  Estimates for the repairs are $80,000 – $100,000.  Mike will proceed with the repairs needed.

 

Office Manager Report:

  • A refrigerator was purchased to replace the office refrigerator that was freezing up.
  • The audit is still being prepared, Ben hopes to have it finished by August.

 

Manager Report:

  • Installed a few new taps the past month and have several more to do.
  • Will be fixing a leak ¼ mile from prior leak on Reid Rd.
  • Viken Rd – Material for the 8” pipe is $30,000, this will tie in the new line that was installed during the bridge replacement.
  • The temporary line was installed from the McCoy Well to the Simmons Tank.  The water is high in iron and will have to be treated per testing by Hawkins.  The tank was drained and cleaned and filled with water the Bean Well. 
  • Lost power during recent storms at the Wells.  No long-term issues have surfaced.

 

Motion by Penny Oedekoven, second Judy Heisler, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 am.
