September 13, 2023

A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Butte-Meade Sanitary Water District was held at the District Office on September 13, 2023, at 8:00 a.m., led by the Pledge of Allegiance.  The meeting was called to order by the President of the Board, Bob Lewis at 8:00 a.m.

Unless otherwise noted, all Board action was by unanimous decision.

Members Present: Bob Lewis, Gary Velder, Penny Oedekoven, Judy Heisler, Richard Harmon, Mike Wolff, and Dallas Conner.  

Motion by Judy Heisler, second by Richard Harmon to adopt the agenda.  Motion carried.

The Minutes of the regular August 16, 2023, meeting were presented and approved on a motion by Bob Lewis, second by Gary Velder.  Motion carried. 

The Treasurer’s Report and bills were approved on a motion by Judy Heisler, second Gary Velder.  Motion carried.

Old Business:

  • Office Repairs are scheduled for the week of October 16.  The office will need to be closed.  CharLee and Dallas will attend a meeting on Monday & Tuesday and then will do inventory at the shop & wells the rest of the week.
  • Western Dakota Regional Water System Annual Meeting – Richard, Mike, Todd & Dallas attended the meeting on September 12.  Information on the project was presented on several aspects of the project.  Todd Williamson was elected to serve on the board of directors.
  • Well Update – Things are moving along with the project.  The needed reports are nearing completion.


New Business:

  • Office Managers meeting – With the office repairs being completed the same time as the meeting, Dallas would like to take CharLee to the meeting.  The board agreed to this.

Office Manager Report:

  • District Policy updates – Recommendations are in the works.  Dallas will schedule a meeting with Judy & Richard when they are done.
  • Lead Service Line – Surveys have all been sent out.  The office has had a few calls on completing them but for the most part, it has been going well. 


Manager Report:

  • Blackburn Basement – Mike, Todd & Don will start working on the landscaping around the building to fix the drainage issues.
  • Bean Well – Weston Engineering will replace the pump.
  • A CLA valve has been ordered for the Booster.
  • Repaired a main break near Belle Fourche.
  • PFAS sample results are back, and no detections were found.
  • Several new services to hook up in the near future.
  • A wiring harness for skid steer will be installed next week for the blade that was purchased.  Replaced hydraulic lines and things seem to be working.
  • Water samples are due in September, Mike will take care of those in the next week.


Motion by Judy Heisler, second Gary Velder, the meeting was adjourned at 8:55 am.
