Butte-Meade Sanitary Water District

A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Butte-Meade Sanitary Water District was held at the District Office on October 8, 2025, at 8:00 a.m., led by the Pledge of Allegiance.  The meeting was called to order by the President of the Board, Bob Lewis at 8:00 a.m.

Unless otherwise noted, all Board action was by unanimous decision.

Members Present: Bob Lewis, Gary Velder, Penny Oedekoven, Richard Harmon, Judy Heisler Mike Wolff, Todd Williamson and Dallas Conner.  

Motion by Penny Oedekoven, second by Judy Heilser to adopt the agenda.  Motion carried.

The Minutes of the regular September 10, 2025, meeting was presented and approved on a motion by Penny Oedekoven, second by Judy Heisler.  Motion carried. 

The Treasurer’s Report and bills were approved on a motion by Richard Harmon, second Gary Velder.  Motion carried.

Old Business:

• Well Update – Water testing is completed for now.  Pre Construction meeting will be October 16 at 2:00 pm at our office.
• Western Dakota Regional Water System Annual Meeting was September 25 in Keystone.  Todd Williamson and Dallas Conner attended the event.  Great information from speakers on the project funding and progress.
• Rate for Campgrounds – Tabled for more information.

New Business:

• Employee handbook – Updates are needed on the employee handbook due to Federal and State law.  Dallas will work with BH HR Consulting on the needed updates and will present at a future meeting.
• Board Leadership Seminar – The seminar will be held November 19 & 20 in Pierre.  

Office Manager Report:

• Drove the statements to Belle Fourche, took a few days longer then Sturgis.
• The District will participate in the Trunk or Treat in Vale and the Harvest Fest in Newell.  And plans are underway for a wreath for the Festival of Trees in Newell.

Manager Report:

• Shaykett Tank needs repair.  Mike will see about getting that scheduled.
• Don had foot surgery and will be out for the next few weeks.
• Vale pump was delivered and is being repaired.
• Finishing up work on Viken Rd.  The irrigation is off and the last part should dry out and be easier and more stable to complete.
• Finished on basement removal and still have at least one more tap to do yet.

Motion by Penny Oedekoven, seconded by Judy Heisler, the meeting was adjourned at 9:10 am.
