A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Butte-Meade Sanitary Water District was held at the District Office on April 19, 2023, at 8:00 a.m., led by the Pledge of Allegiance.  The meeting was called to order by the President of the Board, Bob Lewis at 8:00 a.m.

Unless otherwise noted, all Board action was by unanimous decision.

Members Present: Bob Lewis, Gary Velder, Penny Oedekoven, Judy Heisler, Mike Wolff, and Dallas Conner.  

Motion by Bob Lewis, second Gary Velder to adopt the agenda, motion carried.

The Minutes of the regular March 8, 2023, meeting was read and approved on a motion by Judy Heisler and second by Gary Velder.  Motion carried. 

The Treasurer’s Report and bills were approved on a motion by Penny Oedekoven, second Gary Velder.  Motion carried.

Old Business:

• Office Manager Training – The importance of good inventory software was discussed.  Dallas & CharLee are going to work with the operators and implement a system by the end of summer.  A presentation by Metron Farnier Meters discussed the availability of auto read meters utilizing cell service.  Mike & Dallas are going to look into this service as well as a tower system for our current meters.

New Business:

• Mike Wolff & Dallas Conner presented information to the board regarding current water rates for customers using over 20,000 gallons per billing cycle.  Motion by Bob Lewis, second by Gary Velder to raise the rate from $3.25/1000 gallons to $3.50/1,000 gallons for usage over 20,000 gallons per billing cycle.  First reading for the proposed ordinance will be at the May meeting.

Manager Report:

• Planning & zoning meeting today for the land purchase.  Once approved it will go before the Belle Fourche City Council and then back to the county.
• Vale tank has a possible leak in the bottom.  The operators will be looking at this and talking with McGuire Iron for repairs.
• Manager Meeting & Expo April 25 & 26, Mike & Todd will attend.
• Main break on cemetery Road and leaks on the 16th & 17th have been fixed.
• Looked at pipe in Mud Butte and talked to the engineer about the faded condition.  Will talk to the owner again & make an offer.
