October 11, 2023

A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Butte-Meade Sanitary Water District was held at the District Office on October 11, 2023, at 8:00 a.m., led by the Pledge of Allegiance.  The meeting was called to order by the President of the Board, Bob Lewis at 8:00 a.m.

Unless otherwise noted, all Board action was by unanimous decision.

Members Present: Bob Lewis, Gary Velder, Penny Oedekoven, Judy Heisler, Richard Harmon, Mike Wolff, and Dallas Conner.  

Motion by Gary Velder, second by Richard Harmon to adopt the agenda.  Motion carried.

The Minutes of the regular September 13, 2023, meeting were presented and approved on a motion by Judy Heisler, second by Gary Velder.  Motion carried. 

The Treasurer’s Report and bills were approved on a motion by Richard Harmon, second Gary Velder.  Motion carried.

Old Business:

  • Office Repairs – Don, Todd and Mike have started removing dirt around the building.
  • Well Update – Things are moving along with the project.  The FNSI report will be published the end of the month.


New Business:

  • Harvest Fest – Newell & Vale – CharLee and Dallas would like to participate in the Newell & Vale festivities.  They will each take one day.  The district would just need to purchase the supplies.  The board agreed, Dallas will move forward.
  • Festival of Trees – Newell – CharLee and Dallas would like to participate in the Festival of Trees again this year. The board agreed.  CharLee and Dallas will move forward with plans.


Office Manager Report:

  • Lead Service Line – Surveys are coming back in.  There have been a few questions and issues but it is going well. 


Manager Report:

  • Western Dakota Water System – Mike shared a map showing proposed routes.  
  • 2 new taps installed with a few more possible by the end of the year.
  • Repaired a few leaks the past month.
  • Possible new subdivision near Belle Fourche with 7 new taps. 
  • Prop study for tower system is completed.  It showed 98% coverage with 3 towers.  Waiting on quote from Core & Main.
  • Dakota Pump will upgrade pump in Vale.  
  • Engineer is looking into low pressure by 9 mile and possible solutions.


Motion by Judy Heisler, second Gary Velder, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 am.
